Vision of the Catholic Fraternity
-
Share, encourage and consolidate the fruit of the Christian life that the Lord has brought about through His Spirit within member communities and fellowships.
(Statutes 1.6a and quote from 1990 Decree – “It is the hope of the Pontifical Council for the Laity that such recognition may increase the spiritual fruits of the charismatic movement to a fuller awareness and acceptance at all levels in the Church, of the presence and action of the Holy Spirit.”) -
Promote all the riches of the spiritual heritage of the Church in the life of the Fraternity faithful listening to the Word of God, participation in liturgy (especially the sacramental life of the Church and in particular the Eucharist and Reconciliation) and practices of popular devotion.
(Quote from Pope John Paul II in his address to the Fraternity on December 7th, 1991 – “Celebrate the sacraments, especially the Eucharist, in a spirit of rejoicing, and the Sacrament of Penance with dignity and piety. In this way those who are still far away will be drawn to the Lord and to His Body, the Church.” Also note Statutes 1.6.b) -
Reaffirm and deepen an awareness of membership in and love for the Catholic Church, as well as the primary and essential bond of communion with it.
(Quote from 1990 Decree – “The Communities of the Catholic Fraternity of Charismatic Covenant Communities and Fellowships, motivated by the desire both to assure greater dialogue and collaboration among themselves and to deepen their communion with the Successor of Peter as an essential element of their Catholic identity, have requested the Pontifical Council for the Laity that they be recognised as a private association of the Christian faithful.” Also note Statutes 1.6.c) -
Undertake specific initiatives related to the work of evangelization and Church renewal in accordance with the Code of Canon Law relating to the authority of the local Church.
(Quote from Pope John Paul II in his address to the Fraternity on December 7th, 1991 – “In the spirit of the Post Synod Exhortation Christifideles Laici, place yourselves at the service of the evangelizing works of your Bishops, the pastors who are responsible for the life of the local Churches.” In the 1990 Decree, it states “The Council expresses its great hope that the recognition of this Catholic Fraternity will intensify the Apostolic activities and the response of its member communities to the appeal of the Holy Father for a new evangelization of the world on the threshold of the third millennium.” Also note Statutes 1.6.g)
